Being a new mom doesn't leave you much time for yourself. You barely have time to shower, brush your hair , or get dresses....let alone get any real good sleep. After a long 3 1/2 weeks of little consistent sleep I was exausted! My husband is a heavy sleeper and can sleep through the little noises our daughter makes at night. This allows him to get some good sleep. I on the other hand wake up when she makes the slightest little noise. This doesn't allow me to sleep very long at all without getting up. Aside from that I wake up at least every 4 hours to breast feed her or change her diaper. On the weekends my hubby will get up and give her a bottle i pumped or formula so I can stay in bed and he also takes care of diaper changes. Even so, I still wake up from her cries to get him up.
Last night was a great. The baby slept 4 1/2 hours straight without waking up. I actually slept through the few noises she must of made. (probably cause i am so exausted) When she got up this morning my hubby took care of her and let me go back to sleep. He took her in the living room with him so I could sleep uninterupted. After another 2 hours of peaceful sleep my hubby woke me up for a great breakfast. He made me eggs, bacon, and potatoes. After I ate I pumped and went back to sleep in my room for another 4 hours of uninteruppted sleep while my wonderful hubby watched the baby. All I can say is that that was a much needed rest. I am lucky to have a great hubby who let me get some sleep. I did waste half my day in bed, but I'm okay with that. I feel so much better now that I got some rest!
For anyone who is about to be a new mom here is some advice:
-sleep all you can now, cause you'll never sleep this good again once your baby comes!
-once the baby comes, sleep whenever the baby sleeps....even if its not long it is still sleep!
-take the help others offer you and use your time off to catch up on the sleep you are lacking!
