Here's Shorty, our half Pomeranian - half Sheltie rescue. His cage at the shelter said he was vicious. He isn't vicious at all, he just has a self-esteem problem. He thinks he's King of all he surveys. He's also very loving and sweet and one of the smartest dogs I've ever met. Shorty's been with us six years now and is seven years old.
This afternoon I had a Reclast treatment for osteoporosis. The technician said that lots of patients have aches and pains for a few days after treatment. I hope that's "little aches and pains," or that I'm one of the exceptions that doesn't notice anything different. It's administered by IV and I don't need another for a year.
I found a stuffed dog today that we are going to take on our trip to Pensacola, Florida. I got the idea from Duckie, who has photographed her yellow duckie in many exotic places and in lots of new friends' hands. We leave the 27th and I can hardly wait. I'm more than ready for some Florida sun and the white beaches of "The Redneck Riviera."

This is our cock-a-poo, Daisy. Someone said the other day on one of my posts that they'd like to see more of my dogs. Daisy is the first female dog we've had out of the five we've adopted through the years. She definitely uses her feminine wiles and flirts shamelessly. She also usually pee-pees a bit if anyone raises their voice to her.
Last night I rediscovered an old love - crocheting. It's probably been at least ten years since I crocheted. It's like a bicycle, actually. Once you learn how, you never really forget, you might just be a bit shaky at first. My daughter had literally dozens of skeins of yarn that she didn't want anymore. She's the pastels type, I'm the primary and bright color sort. I have two projects going, which is my usual habit. One is an afghan in single crochet so it won't be "airy," and the other is a sweater for my dog Daisy. She's about to get her spring haircut in a week or so, and she'll appreciate the sweater outside unless the two other dogs strip her!
Making Daisy's sweater. I have both "sleeves" finished. In the photo the color is more orange than it really is. Actually it is dead-on red. It'll be red and black because that's the colors of the Hannibal High School Pirates.

This is my next project. I'd like to have it finished in time to take traveling with me. It's called the Mushroom Hippy Hat and I found the pattern free on the web.
I enjoyed the Oscars last night, although I thought some of it was a bit sloppy. The montage of the people that had passed on during the past year went by a bit fast. Van and I were shocked that Paul Newman died without us hearing about it. We googled his death and learned he'd died the day after my Mom went in the hospital for the last time, so that explains our inattention to current news at that time. Hugh Jackman was wonderful as host. I could watch him tie his shoes for three hours.
It's cold today but it's going to be 50 later in the week. Is it just me, or is February not the shortest month of the year, or is it actually the longest?

Jim, I think it was a little worse a few years ago when we had snow almost daily in February. It's such a deceiver - it looks gorgeous out there, until you step outside and the 14 degree wind hits you in the mug.
February is nearly over. I thought it went by rather fast, but much of it here was mild.
When do you leave on your trip?
Peter - Camping has a tendancy to cause lots of bad hair days. I guess it's the swimming, campfire smoke, and sleeping like a gorilla.
Debbie - Wow, a bike ride across the states... wait, were you in Easy Rider?
I'd love to crochet again. In fact, when you said you were doing that this morning, I was heinously jealous. I'm afraid my carpal tunnel won't let me do it without serious repercussions.
very cute pictures... and I'll look forward to seeing you model the hat for us
Ina, I didn't know you have carpal tunnel, I'm so sorry. The doggie sweater is coming along pretty good. It should be ready for the first fitting tomorrow.
flit - I think I'm going to make the brim longer and more floppy than the picture. I think Ina should find a fancy porcelain shoe or something for her trip, rather than asking strangers to hold her real shoe.
Mugg - Thanks and believe me, the little Dude knows it, too!
Dannielle - Even though my Mom was crocheting before I was born, my neighbor in Germany - she was Puerto Rican, taught ourselves to crochet from a library book. There was much swearing and unraveling, but we finally succeeded.
Aniko - I can't wait to get done with the doggie sweater so I can make my hat. I do think it'll be great to have it on the beach. I wear denim sort of long skirts and t shirts camping lots. This will complete my pinko red commie hippy look.
Thank you for posting to this group whose only purpose is to thank you for posting to this group.
I love the hat project you are working on. I have no talent in that area. I have been known to sew on a button before though.
Miss ya Vicky. Just wanted to drop in and tell you hello this morning and hope you have a great Wednesday. I just hope work goes better for me than it did yesterday. I had a disgruntled client call and cuss me out. Then when her husband got home from work, he decided to call and cuss me out because his wife was upset. I wanted to tell him that I didn't make her upset, she's just fu&*ing crazy. Oh well, such is life.
