I love your poem and picture combo, but I'm wondering about the last line. "Charming" puzzles me a bit. Would "spellbound" work?

I didn't feel so much spellbound but definitely felt charmed by the sparkle of the sun on the water and the way it coaxed me to look deeper. More of a charmed feeling.
Now....there was something on the beach that I have to admit did spellbind me, entrance me, puzzle me and when I got home and saw what was there on in photos, it kind of unnerved me. I still have to process the experience in order to understand how to be present with it.
but...this little pier did charm me.

Well Chris, the tide had gone out and I wanted to see the barnacles but once I got under there and looked toward the water, I just loved the spot.

I know what you mean. Wehn I was a kid, we lived close to a lake, in a Michigan county with hundreds of lakes. I was down at "the beach" all the time, and I loved to go under docks or rafts. There's something very private in the midst of "a crowd" about that space, and a little scarey at the same time.

When I was a half-pint we lived in Morro Bay on our grandparent's property. My Grandpa would take the five of us little monsters down to the pier with him to give my Mom a break. He would tether us with a little rope so that he could haul us back up if we fell off the pier and then give us a string, a hook and a worm so we could fish. We did catch fish. I was afraid of the edge and would fish through the knot-holes. That always got me in trouble.
