I don't know if this is a true story or not.

(No intent of criticism meant to the good people of India.)
My sister's mom died and the hospital tried to bill her estate for "tests" they allegedly performed AFTER she died.
On the other hand, I'll be sure to cancel all of my credit cards BEFORE I die, I think I'm planning that in my 90s...
The company kept calling for weeks, with a different caller each time, none of whom had any information we'd given them during previous calls. Each was surprised to hear that Grandma was dead. Each threatened to sue Grandma if she didn't pay, each time making the threat after finding out she was dead. Each demanded proof of death.
I eventually told them that no, we didn't have to send them anything, they'd been informed of the situation, and further calls would be considered harassment, for which we would sue them for that. After I made that statement to a supervisor's supervisor, the calls from that company stopped.
