The Great Pumpkin Shortage

            This is a sad thing. Kids want them, and we need them to bake our pies, breads, ect. I really wonder what Thanksgiving is going to be like. They are going for $1.99 a pound here!

            No canned pumpkin to be had in this city, I am so glad I am growing them. Crop is not the greatest. At least I have some. I have made sure every kid I know has one. What is Halloween with-out a pumpkin?

Is that country wide? Or just certain states? I saw a bunch at a local store for $2.99 a piece maybe I should go grab 3, 1 for each of my kids.

There really should be an efficient way to make sure everyone, all over the country, has whatever they want or need. Some places have too much and some have non!

Wow, didn't know there could be a pumpkin shortage. They are so easy to grow, just stick a seed in the ground and they grow. Maybe people didn't plant as many this year.

I heard there was a pumpkn shortage as well. What is up with that? Thankfully I have plenty of canned pumpkin, plan on taking to Ohio ith me to bake pies for the holidays.

Lucky yes. As it was passed out at the local food banks. Many people believe or not will pass it on. Thats how I was able to aquire what I do have.

Last week I had a craving for pumpkin pie, but I didn't know there was a shortage, I had to goto three stores before I found a pie!!! (It was good too!)

My BF also wanted a Pumpkin Pie, we found none at one bakery, and snagged the last one at another. I didn't realize there was a shortage. Pumpkin pies and pumpkin seeds are two of my fave holiday things.

I saw this on the news about the shortage. I was going to write about it, until I just saw this, lol.
It's sad! Pumpkins are my favorite thing with Fall & Halloween. You're such a good person giving out pumpkins to kids. they say they will be shipping more in, but the price will definately go up .

I haven't been in the market yet for pumpkins ~ was thinking about this weekend. How nice of you, Diane, to make sure every child you know has a pumpkin! That must give you tremendous satisfaction knowing you've made a difference in the life of someone else. Pumpkins/Halloween are pretty big deals for a lot of kids. Good for you! =)

-- Martha Stewart & I love pumpkins, too! Vegetable is loaded with carotene. Don't forget to roast seeds (protein). Pumpkins are indoor/outdoor decorations. Add shell to compost pile. When I don't have carrots I add canned pumpkin to soups. --

I absolutely love anything pumpkin.........that is just horrible news! And I was wondering why canned pumpkin was so high at the stores! I found one brand, for a 16 oz. can for something like $1.59 a can.....yikes!!! But, i suppose I'll still buy it, as I love to make the impossible pumpkin pies, cookies, breads, etc., etc.

Wow, that's so sad. We seem to have plenty here. I am in IL though, so i don't know. They're always expensive though. I tried to grow my own and they didn't grow. I was sad.

No shortage here, and I am in the midwest. There is over 20 patches to go to, and was at store today and they had shelves filled with different brands of pumpkin.

Wow... that is crazy! We were just at the pumpkin patch and 'sugar pumpkins' were .29 a pound!
Order canned pumpkin for Amazon.... they have awesome deals.
