Beginning at 9:30 this morning, numerous neighborhood residents participated in the annual Oceanside Village 4th of July Golf Cart Parade.
I went over as they were preparing to check out the parade participants and see what route the carts were taking through the community. There were over 70 decorated golf carts participating this morning. Here's a sample of some of them.

Some of these folks really went all out!

This is what I would expect to see from Janet, lol.

I love all the costumes many of the kids had on.

This school bus float took first place in the parade.

The "Grillin & Chillin" cart, which was my personal favorite, got 2nd place.

They really went all out with their setup.
The 3rd place cart had a big firecacker on top and is shown below. I love how they used paper plates for hubcaps!

Some kids even decrated their bikes and rode along with the golf carts.

While others sat in the shade to watch the parade and get candy that was tossed from the carts as they went by.

It was really a lot of fun to watch.

Once they began their route, I walked back to the house to get Abbey, a chair and a cold beverage. We went out to the end of the road and sat with some folks to watch the parade go by. Abbey was a tad freaked out by everything, but loved all the little kids.

Here she models her July 4th hairbow made by Amanda C!
Hope you enjoyed a sneak peek at this morning's Independance Day golf cart parade!

Wow! People got very creative with decorating their golf carts! The kids costumes are really great!
Happy 4th!
I love parades...all kinds of parades...even little hokey ones like these. They're all about the people and what they come up with to display themselves...for all types of reasons. I always went to ours back home...a couple bands, service groups and color guards, baton twirlers, bike and carts and hay wagons decorated up...you name it...even a few decorated golf carts! They're alway great for lots of smiles...and we need more of them in this world.
I loved it, it put a big smile on my face. We live in a fairly big community and people don't do things like this. We have to ride to Port Jefferson (about 15-20 min) to find anything like this and then it is never cozy and small town. If I don't get to live in a small town before I leave this world then when I come back, I am going to come back as a fun loving small town person, and be goofy in my next life. I think that is the best.
Those are some pretty cool golf carts! Abbey is adorable in her patriotic bow :~)
Happy 4th!!
Wow, those carts were so creative and fantastic. Thanks for posting this.
Wow, that looks like a lot of fun. Maggie would have freaked some too....
I remember being in parades when I was a kid....
My neighborhood had parades where we decorated our bikes or tractors & carts when I was a kid. You don't see much of that anymore.
Your usual great photos and captions ,Marianne . I like parades like this, fun !
What a fun parade Marianne, and you really understood how to make it come alive through your photos. Abbey sure look good with her bow.
Wow! That was quite a parade and a lot of golf carts. Very creative people!
What fun!
that looks so cool, happy 4th
This is great! I love the spirit behind all this. After all, people are proud to be an American and they show it in their own creative way. Way to go America!
I loved it, Marianne. Liked how you did the shots of the golfcarts along with details and decor. It looked like everyone enjoyed themselves, lol - loved the kids with the sunglasses.
Kinda nice, I got to see two parades, yours and Kat's and never left the house:)
My dad would love this. I think you should get your own golf cart next year!
I have one.
Why weren't you in the parade?
I can't take photos if I am in the parade, not to mention that I didn't feel like shelling out the $$$ to decorate it.
Looks like it was a lot more fun taking the pictures by far
What a great idea for a parade! I love all those golf carts and the decorated bikes! Very cool article!

Oh how fun! Golf carts are popular here too. I posted some pics of our Christmas parade this past year. The owners go all out with decorating them!
