Alrighty, I thought it might be fun to kick off a prediction post where everyone puts in their predictions on what will happen in 2009. Here are some ideas:
Stock Market:
Currently the DOW is at ~8000. I predict it will fluctuate +/- 400 points for the next 6 months then something "BIG" will happen. The positive side is that this will push the market up to 9500+, the negative side (unlikely) is it will drop... and drop hard down to the low 6000's.
Politics:
Obama will continue to do good, and will bring other countries to the "peace table". The bad guys of the world won't like this and will do something to try and stir up anger. It will backfire on them in a very bad way. By the end of the year most of the criminals will either be in jail or sleeping with the fishes.
Energy:
Someone, somewhere will invent a form of free energy. Oil will plummet down to $10/barrel. Energy "freedom" will start to become a reality. Robotics, and automation will start to takeoff... although most of this won't happen until 2010/2011.
Gaming:
3d physical environment gaming will become a reality. Nintendo (or some other gaming company) will announce their next big thing. Gamers will flock to these systems when they become available in 2010.
Celebrities:
Someone famous will do something stupid (obviously ;) ). Britney Spears will start her own TV talk show. Paris Hilton will get married. Tom Crews will get a divorce.

I predict tht the problems Obama has because he is appointing so many people guilty of tax fraud or corruption will escalate because *he is the problem*, and the American people will have the blinders fall off their eyes. His approval rating will drop drastically.
