I was just talking with someone the other day, about how it seemed like Easter was so early this year! Who decides when it is, and what's the process? I did some digging and found out the following about this holiday.
Since about the year 325 A.D., the date for Easter was placed on the first Sunday following the first full moon or the vernal equinox. The earliest Easter can be is March 22 and the latest date it can be is April 25. This was decided at the Council of Nicaea and has been followed ever since.
So as you can see Easter really is early this year, squeaking in just one day past the earliest possible date.
