I am just wondering how many families have cut out things to get by or have extra money ,we had to give up cable in 2006 after our daughter was born and we have not had it since ,We also had to give up our newer car that we were making payments on and buy a older model out right to save the extra costs of a car payment and having to have full coverage .I also cut out on the pre packaged snacks for the boys ,now we buy in bulk and put them in sandwich bags because you get 3 times the snack for way less ,what things have you done to cut costs ?

Probably the next thing we will cut out is the cable if needed. We haven't had cable since the '80's. 2007 was the first time in many many years that we've had it, and that only because we needed the high speed internet it was bundled with for my two college age kids and my jobs.
One thing we've changed in the past 5 years is that we don't rent movies anymore but use Netflix instead. We've figured that it saved us a lot just in overdue fees (living out in the country we were always a distance from any place that rented out movies).
We also have a phone service that charges one monthly rate with unlimited long distance. We use only pre-paid cell phone service. And we use cell phones only for emergencies.
I could go on and on.
