NEXT CHRISTMAS

I told my family last night that next year there was not going to be any Wii games, no toys, no new clothes, no nothing...

I told them that we were going to be giving them insence, frankenscense, myrrah.  I told them if it were good enough for Jesus to receive, it would be good enough for them.

My 11 yr old asked me if I was out drinking....my 13 yr old asked to be left at a shelter...my 18 yr old said that she makes a paycheck and to count her out...my 20 yr old said I was nuts and my husband agreed with me.

LOL

I was of course just kidding but I thought I would throw that gift idea out to the kids anyway.

I would like to bag all but one modest gift per person and spend all the money and effort on adopting a family for Christmas. I've gotten more pleasure out of filling the wish list of a woman and her children who have had to flee their home because of abuse.

My oldest son's 4-H Jr Leader group actually donates money & buys gifts for at least 2 needy families per year at Christmas time.
This year his group even donated food for a Christmas dinner for one of the families too.

My house is limited on what we can buy but it's the other stuff that goes with Christmas that sems to make to special.

honestly....I like the idea of that Tracey.........
I gave my kids only clothes that they needed one year for Xmas.......no toys, no games.....nothing they really wanted........they were not respecting the things they already had......so I wanted to make a point........it wasn't well taken though, but they started to take better care of their things after that......

I've often wondered where and when it all ends and how. I'd rather give to the people who really need it but then those that don't get all mad if you don't give them a gift.

My kids are all still talking about next years gift. My 13 yr old even looked up those things in the dictonary last night to see what the heck they were getting. Of course I am kidding with them because I am highly allergic to smelly stuff (migraines) but it is fun to mess with them.
I only spent 100.00 on each of my 4 kids and they are actually quite happy and appreciate what they get so....at least it is good.
