I think Ruth is right. I was going to say that too. I have a couple peonies that I got from my mom's yard in the 70's. I don't have her green thumb but they HAVE survived. I get tired of the ants on them. Eventually, they seem to eat up parts of the leaves.

I was going to guess peony too. I have two peony bushes near my side door. Because of the ants, I wish I would have planted them somewhere else, but I love the way they look and smell.
