I Love Free Books!

My daughter just gave me a heavy bag full of books. I love reading and sharing books. I want to share with you a wonderful website that I recently discovered. The web site is:

http://www.bookcrossing.com/

On this site you can share your books or pick up free books. You post online where you are leaving a book ( park bench, laundry mat,coffee shop,etc. ) You can track the books journey by logging information at the web site. Does anyone on here use this web site? What  are your thought on this? Does anyone else know of any more cool web sites such as this one? Happy hunting!!

I hadn't heard of that before. I recycle books by giving to friends and asking them to "pass it on". Other books I give to our local "Friends of the Library" who sells books that the library can't use for $1 for paper back and $2 for hardback. That money then goes to buy other books the library needs.

But if I didn't have my two normal "book outlets" I'd look into this one for sure!

my aunt belong to this one club in the big city,, there is a lady who sells books for anywhere from a dime to a dollar.. also buy them back for no more then a dollar,, You pay $ 50 for the year,,, this covers I think the cost of the building she has over thousand of books in,,
we did it for my mom in the nursing home..

I've heard of book crossing but I haven't joined yet. Great way of getting books without paying for them. Great way of recycling!

Thanks for reminding me; I've been a member ther for about five years, but I haven't done much with it lately. I originally joined to try and pass on books that have been collecting dust - I never seem to actually find the released ones, they're always gone before I get there. I'm the same username there.

This is a great idea. I send books to and receive books from a group of friends and siblings, but I always need more (books).

You might also consider signing up with PaperbackSwap.com if you like to share books. You start by posting 6 books that you are willing to ship to whoever requests a book. You are given a few points to start off with. From then on, you gain a point for every book that someone else orders from you, which you can then use to request books from the thousands that are listed on the site. I am not kidding about the huge numbers of books being swapped on this site. There are rules about the condition of the books, but there is nothing too onerous about the rules. Fun. Easy. And you get to share. :)
