Being a Batman fanatic, I was greatly looking forward to The Dark Knight and I was not disappointed.
The Dark Knight starts off carefully and slowly, as a fairly straight-forward crime thriller, notwithstanding the characters in bat costumes and clown make-up. It subtly transforms as it progresses and then wham, it morphs into a psychological, action-packed thrill ride that you cannot stop watching. The acting is first-rate, not a bad performance to be had. Aaron Eckhart in particular does a superb job as Harvey Dent. And of course Heath Ledger; his performance as The Joker is simply perfect. He could have stepped right out out of a graphic novel onto the screen.
The Dark Knight left me thinking about the philosophical nature of a hero. That theme runs throughout the movie, by carefully contrasting the personalities of the characters of Harvey Dent and the Batman. Both characters are tested, put under the same stress and carnage by the Joker; one man breaks, one doesn't. In doing so the movie raises several questions about human character, and human endurance. It also asks: Who is the true hero of Gotham City?
It is the one movie you must see.

Particularly the "magic trick" he does at the beginning of the movie.
Even when he set up the pencil, I figured there was still a card trick or something coming soon. Totally wasn't expecting the actual trick. But sure enough, the camera stayed on him.
An excellent, excellent movie.
