It has been that time of year in the Southern Hemisphere, when the fields are brimming with little white dots, and some not so little dots!!!
It is the little white dots that I am talking about, mother nature has smiled on us this year and given us an abundance of fresh field mushrooms, sometimes called Portabello Mushrooms and little button mushrooms.
And I swear, I have never tasted any mushrooms that have been SO full of flavour that my mouth has been watering while I am eating them... thank you mother nature, we have had a week of carrier bags full of freshly picked mushrooms.
We have had them grilled, sautéed, souped and buttered...but I would like to share a recipe that has warmed the cockles of our heart today as we are in the grip of winter and it is FREEZING. We have howling winds, driving rain and it is bitterly cold the the blazing fire is struggling to heat the room.
It was actually the roaring fire that we cooked this delightful mushroom soup on. So a real FREE meal...hehe!!! Give it a try and let it warm the cockles of your heart..:)

Suzi,
I've never seen any Potabellos growing around here (KS) but we do have some delicious Morrells If you've not had them freshly battered and deep fried you haven't eaten. I am looking forward(or is it foward I'm never sure) to trying the soup though.
I tried the link but it sent me to a website called "cooking with passion", and I couldn't figure out how to find your recipe. If you still have it could you please pass it along.
