Loyalty is a word that you don't really hear much of these days. Watch an old western or any movie with a castle in it and you will always see loyalty cast about as a main theme if not a rule of the times. These days loyalty seems to be more of an idealistic principle than a way of life but honestly who's to blame. If you take a look at the divorce rate you'll see that lack of loyalty has not only infiltrated our business lives but our personal ones as well. There was a point in time where marriage meant forever and working with an employer meant security. These days marriage is a maybe at best and I know people who have had a job for every year they've been alive. Now which came first the chicken or the dollar? Since we stopped being a free market society business has been focused on making a profit. If that means releasing employees to improve the profitability of a company then that is what is done. Now what about that employee who feels loyal to their company and works with them despite other opportunities they may see. Is that right? or even smart now a days. The answer is a heart felt NOOOO. Why be loyal to a company that is not loyal to you? I would love feedback on anyone that wants to comment on the topic ....
