Well I went to CVS to cash in on the Glade deal and I think I walked out with a better deal than I was supposed to...well the second time I walked out...the first time I was charged wrong! Always check your receipts!
At my CVS store the Glade items on this deal were 2/$6. So I picked up the following:
Items
2 Glade essential oil jar candle's for $6
2 scented oil refills for $6
1 Glade scented Oil Holder for $6.39
TOTAL: $18.39
Coupons Used
$1/2 - refills
$1.50/2 - candles
Free Glade Scented Oil Holder w/ a purchase of 1 pkg of refills
$6 ECB's
TOTAL: $14.89
So I should of paid $3.50 plus tax and received $5 ECB's.
But she read the best coupon wrong...she thought it was buy the holder get the refills for free but it was the other way around. I don't blame her, I think most people would of thought that coupons would of been buy the holder get the refill for free instead of buy the refill pack get the holder for free.
So when she said I owed $6.96 I thought it was a little more than it should be. So when I got out to my car I scanned the receipt and noticed the error. I almost drove off thinking I might be wrong, but I decided to go back in and have them make the correction, and she did.
But what she did was confusing and I'm not sure how it worked out but basically she refunded $3.16 and put it on a CVS card. Then she rescanned the refill at $3 and the holder for $6.39 and then subtracted $6.39 to make the holder free. The subtotal on the receipt after tax said $3.73. Then she added the $3.16 back on from the CVS card and gave me $6.39 in change! I even questioned her on it and she said it was right and I couldn't figure out the math standing there so that was that. So basically I took the total from the first receipt of $6.96 and subtracted the change she gave me back of $6.39 and ended up paying OOP .57 cents and got $5 back in ECB's!
I don't even understand how that worked, but it's important to know what your coupons say and to always review your receipt to the flyer price. This is the second time I noticed an error. Last time it was a .40 cent error.

What they would have done at my store is say you returned the refill and the holder for $9.39, then subtract the $3.00 coupon, for a total of $6.39 plus tax back. Then they would ring up both items again with the coupon used on the $6.39 item. So they would have basically taken back the $3 plus tax from your refund of $6.39 plus tax.
I just love shopping at CVS and Rite Aid. Woo Hoo For saving money. :)
