Now I Understand Why Some Animals Eat Their Offspring!

My 16 year old daughter crossed a line with me and I now have some huge trust issues.  I'm not going to go into details, I don't think I could if I wanted to.  I am so disappointed, hurt and angry as hell!

I simply needed to get that off my chest.

 

Oh, my desktop that I broke down and let both of my kids use yesterday is now infected with several viruses.  Guess where I keep most my photos and where I pay my bills and do my online banking? Yep and it is totally out of commission until my hubby can look at it.  What part of don't download anything and only go to the sites you ask to go to do  they not understand?

This photo is one that is on my laptop from my trip to Marianne R.'s in August.

Yes, that is a real joy breaker. Just try to remember that everybody makes mistakes. You just hope they are little mistakes.

Ug, I know the feeling. Everytime my son would use my computer, something would be wrong with it, but he claimed it wasn't anything he did!!! We got him his own and he's not allowed to touch mine anymore. Hubby got himself a laptop and teenguy MUST ask permission and only use it for sites (usually homework) that he tells about BEFORE he goes there.
I'm sorry about the trouble with your daughter. As George said, we all make mistakes, and at 16 (same age as son) they think they know so much more than we ever could.

I am sorry to hear that you are going through something like this with your daughter.
My sister and I were just talking about this very issue.
Her daughter just did something to make her and her husband want to kill her.
I am not looking forward to that age.

After trying 2 times already to say something comforting and profound , didn't like what I wrote ,and started over !! I've been in your shoes and they are uncomfortable ! Thinking I was past all such problems ,I now see some of these same issues coming up with my grand children ! Upset ,hell yes ! Will it pass , yes Lord ,it will !

They're great until they learn to say no, but they don't understand when you tell them no.

That is too cool, the picture that is. My kids and husband have blown up the computer twice. The first time I lost all of the pictures that I had saved on it. The second time, his brother was able to retrieve the pictures. At homecoming for football though, someone took my camera with over 100 pictures on the memory card. Nice hugh. My kids don't understand no, don't stop, or clean. I think it's just the few words they don't learn in school.

Being a mother of two, I understand what you mean and must feel when the LINE is breeched. Sorry about that. Perhaps things will right themselves and bitterness will be forgotten. Let's hope. For the computer, maybe hubby will be successful. Crossed my fingers for you.

Ah, the joys of parenthood, I feel your pain. The good usually outweighs the bad though. Mine are all over thirty now but I can still remember back to those dreaded teen years.

So sorry to hear about your computer......I have been in those same shoes when my son used my desktop and it got a major virus that wiped everything out. The hard drive could not be saved and nothing could be retreived. I hate to tell you this but he was in his 30's when he did that........I have since learned to burn my photos to discs every so often so if that happens again I, at least, have my photos......You do get over it but it's not easy......I wish you luck with this one!

Sounds like you need to lock down the computer so that it will only go to certain sites. My mom has Vista and she can be the administrator with a password and has to approve sites for everyone else to visit.

My desktop and my laptop are both now set up so that they can only be used with the right password. This should take care of that issue going forward.

(((((HUGS))))) I'm sorry that you are having so many issues. Mine are still little, so I can't truly understand how rough teenagers are. I remember how horribly awful I was as a teenager and all the trouble that came of it! My poor mother. Hopefully, this situation will pass and things will be fine.

Good luck getting the viruses out of your computer. I tell my son not to download too, but he still does it. Errrrr!!!!

The viruses have been removed and things seem to be running fine. Hubby fixed it so that two passwords have to be entered to get onto the desktop and I've locked down my laptop also. My daughter is unhappy but not near as much as I am today. I can safely say that today was the first day that I have REALLY wanted a cigarette. I settled for a couple of gin and tonic's instead.

I am dealing with a 15 year old son right now who surprises me daily. He is very vocal about alot of things and I am not talking about what went on through out his day. Saturday night he asked if he could go to a neighboring highschool football game, we said yes. The next morning my 20 year old tells me that my 15 year old did not come home till 3am. Now you talk about one unhappy MOM. We were camping and I gave him an inch and he took a mile. Needless to say, no more football games.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Being hurt and upset by one's child may be the worst kind. I do hope it gets worked out QUICKLY. It's a hard thing to deal with.

We are only now getting normal computer usage. What an ordeal, so can understand how frustrating the computer problems are. Hope your husband can get them eradicated soon.

Ah Kat, this too shall pass.
All parents should get a medal for not killing their young between the ages of 15 and 18.
Mine was cool until he hit 14 and turned into a holy terror.
Just enjoy the good times, be prepared for more to come and keep a close eye on them, especially when they seem to be cruising along doing fine.

Kat, I am very sorry you're upset with your daughter, children don't understand that the choices they make can really hurt their parents . I'm sure you'll be able to trust her again, whatever she did, she know it's wrong and she'll do all she can to regain your trust again.

The title of this post got my attention. I hope things are better between you and your daughter. Believe me when I say there were several times when I would have loved to have devoured my girls for breakfast or lunch.
