I have lied to my children. I'll admit that right now. I did it to make my life easier and to avoid battles in the future. We have an ice cream truck that travels through our neighborhood several times a a day. One day while we were at the playground, my girls spotted it and heard it's tinny, nursery-rhyme music playing. They asked what it was, and I told them it was a Music Truck, and it drove around the neighborhoods playing music for the kids to dance to. They immediately began dancing and dance every time they hear it now-and never ask for ice cream. It's great because they love to dance, and I don't have to break their little hearts telling them "No, you can't have ice cream," three times a day. I reasoned that it's quite similar to when we tell them to be good, or Santa won't bring any presents this year. It's harmless, and it may even help. So how about you? Have you ever lied to your children?

As my children were getting older I told them as much information as I felt they needed to know. If that made my life simpler so be it, I tell my children the truth always. But if I think that what they are asking is none of there business, personal mommy information then I tell them as such. I dont feel that we have to let anyone know everything to avoid telling a lie.
Also none of my children ever believed in Santa, the bunny, toothfairy and I promise that they first didnt tell anyone else to ruin there happiness or did they turn out messed up or feeling they lost out ( my oldest is 18 and is thankful that I did things this way )
Good luck on being a great mommy to your beautiful daughters :)
You do what you have to do.
