I noticed and have seen talk that comments on photos are way down since the announcement of "no points for viewing". I also noticed views on photos are way down for some members. Why do you think that is? Do you think all of a sudden people started to hate viewing photos? What would be a way to get photo views to go up?
I know I pay attention to how many views my photos get. After I receive 20 views, I place them in a restricted album only I can view. What do you think would help get my photo would get more views. (Yes, I meant views..not comments) 20 views from my connections is not even 1%. I don't think I am asking for to much. I do not share as many photos a I once did here. I mean really what is the point if noone is viewing them? I am at the point of thinking of leaving all the groups I am in that share nothing but photos as well. I am wondering if that is what others members have already done.
Did you look at photos before the announcement of "no points for viewing" ? If so, do you still view as many photos as you once did?

I'm curious as to why you remove photos from the community once you achieve a specific quota of page views. Does it matter how many comments the photo has?

You can change your albums to public at any time...simply change the "Who can view this" option.

The number of photos you share may be contributing to a reduction in the amount of comments you are receiving. In some cases, seeing 150 photos from one member over the course of a day can overwhelm your connections/friends. This could lead to them not commenting at all.
Also, some members may look upon the sharing of 300 photos in 2 days as excessive and interpret this as point-whoring, instead of a genuine desire on your part to share your creativity. This also will lead to a reduction in comments...and perhaps friends too.
As a recommendation, you might achieve more success (views, comments) by choosing the top/best 10% of your collection (30 photos) and sharing those over the course of a few days.
I look at these images to learn....primarily...not to earn points.
maybe it would help if someone made a private group of members willing to post AND view photos. if anyone does i will join.
Yeah, when people said that was spam that bugged me. Because it is not spam to leave a comment you see on a picture.

Gather members are notorious for coming up with new words and definitions.
I still view a lot of photos and comment on them. I just don't view photos when people post 20-40 of the same thing...
With me, I think it is hit or miss. Sometimes I get a lot of views... some times very few.
The problem with the friends feed, is if you are not on when that friend is on, you miss what they share. I noticed if I post say around midnight.....my views and comments are not many.
So, I completely understand the disappointment.
Heck, maybe it is the members who recive lots of comments and never respond to hardly any other members content. I am connected to a few of those.
I have notice that when Gather changed points...it hurt picture comments and views. Personally, I think Gather should do something to rectify the situation.....more photo contests would be nice.
I try to read more posts & then if I have time, look at pictures.

I do like your photos you take.
I just got here, read your post and the comments and I still comment as much as I always did, Gathers' new policy did *not* change that for me. The difference with me, is that my life has been fairly insane lately, busy, just really busy and I'm not on Gather as much. But, when I am, the first thing I do is view and comment. I love the comments and the tips, though I don't understand why Gather changed that policy.
Uhhh, if you can't tell, lol, I also don't leave generic comments ;) I'd leave more, to more people and view more content/photos, but I'm just not able to be online as much as I was BEFORE that upgrade. I'm off to view your photos now, Minipin and will comment on the ones that go with this post. I also don't rate low - if someone took the time to try, who am I to low-rate anyone? Nobody, that's who!
