A Heartfelt "THANK YOU" to a caring gather member...... Barb C

                                                  Thank you, Barb C., from the bottom of my heart! You are more savvy than my vet, more caring than some family members. I know what a busy life you lead, because I read your past posts, but when I needed HELP, there you were...sending me information and advice for days, which I credit for my poor ferret still living. One either loves the critters or not, but THIS one, Sly, came to me unexpectedly,

when I needed a good laugh and good cheer. He is a large part of my daily enjoyment.

                                                 For those who wonder, my ferret was ill, went comotose. I checked with barb (bcarlson15210.gather.com) because of no vet until next day. Not only did she give of her time and knowlege, she also sent me to some great sites for even More info. I go to bed one night thinking he is dead, get up the next morning to find him alive and on the mend.

                                                Barb, I wish you were within a hundred miles, because then I could give you a THANK YOU HUG in person. He PLAYED today!! PLAYED!!

                                                A good friend is worth more than they weigh in GOLD.

You are one of those Priceless ones.

Wow, that is really wonderful! I'm so happy to hear your ferret is alive and well.....our pets are very very precious to us, and when they become ill, it's really scary!!!!

yep, beth and Keri, it WAS great of her! and you are SO right, Nora. It had been years since i had a real laugh before I got the critter, and now I can't help laughing, every time he attacks with a whole 16 ounces behind him or when he does a silly grin at me..

After tests and info reserched, it comes out to doc scratchinh head and saying the tests came out positive for viral infection only. I would have come out better sending Barb a couple of hundred for her ferret recovery shelter and taking her advice..REALLY!

I'm SO Glad that Barb was able to help you and your little one is better. My goodness, what a fright that had to have been. You're right, there are some great people in Gather, and you my friend, are one of them. Thanks for being there with me while I was having so much stress this past week or so.

Holy cow! Lune pointed me at this article. Y'all are talking about me and saying ALL nice things! Wow! I am blushing like crazy!

I am very happy your ferret got better, Penni. I was worried about him. He sounded *really* sick and if you had been anywhere nearby, I would have had you bring him here so I could have looked at him. I'm not a vet, but I've seen a *lot* of ferrets. I would rather wake up at 2am and help someone than hear about a dead ferret in the morning. It's the ones I don't hear about until it's too late that break my heart.

I'm so glad what I told you helped. Ferrets have amazing powers of recuperation, if we know how to tap into them. The biggest key is food and water -- forcing them to eat if you have to. There are only a few times when force feeding is a bad idea (like a blockage). So most of the time forcing food and water is the right thing to do.

Anyway, thank you everyone for the kind words. :) I've been feeling very down the last few days and this helps a lot.

a big HUG for you, barbara. I shall always keep a tiny dropper around in case of emergencies like this.. You would be amazed at his recovery! I cleaned his cage today and was Grateful that he had dirtied it,lol.
