Got My Free Flowers Today (Mini Photo Essay)

At  the end of March I cashed in my Gather points and my My Points earnings for Home Depot gift cards. The My Points cards came really fast, but the Gather one didn't arrive until today.

On my way home from the post office and Borders today, I went to Home Depot to get my flowers for the yard. I had a total of $45 in gift cards to spend.

I ended up getting 3 Lilly plants, 2 Vigoro plants, 8 Impatients, 4 Petunias and 4 Phylox. The lillies and vigoro are supposed to be draught resistant and will come back each year. I plan to plant the lillies where I lost azalea bushes last year. That area has room so that these can spread and hopefully make a hedge once they fill in within a few years.

 

I spent $41.69 total and still have a few dollars on one of the gift cards. I'll save this till the next time I cash in for Home Depot again.

I haven't planted these yet because we're supposed to get rain tonight and tomorrow. I would rather plant once some of the pollen has been washed away. It's really horrible out there right now. 

I blew off the driveway and decks with the leaf blower earlier and it was simply disgusting. It will be better after the rains. I mean it can't be any worse, right?

My husband just received his Home Depot card yesterday so I thinkI'll go and get some more flowers for my yard soon.

Beautiful plants Marianne really like them all.

I have set out flowers and plants for the past three days, - loving every minute of it too! Got a few more to plant hope to get to them tomorrow, - I want mine in the ground since we are getting rain on Saturday!!

Awesome way to spend those gift cards Marianne. I need to get out and buy this years flowers but with all the rain I can't plant them anyways.

Isn't that fun? Last year, the majority of my annuals were from Home Depot gift cards, and I plant a LOT. It was so much fun to know I got them just for gathering.

I can tell spring is here, because I just stared and stared at your flowers. We're about a month away from planting season here and I'm really ITCHING!

Great minds think alike Marianne. We went to Lowe's today to get some plants. Of course I can't plant them outside, but I got some for the sun porch and a hibiscus tree for the crock with our name and address on it that I got from my daughter for Christmas. I took photos also and will try to get them up tomorrow.
I just love all the lovely flowers you got for your garden. I got a lily also. They had so many colors it was hard to choose. I had to get a stand for mine. I hope they do well in pots.

Do another photo essay after these are planted so we can see how pretty they look. I don't blame you for waiting until the pollen washes away. Do you use a mask? I do when I'm working in the yard. The little boy across the street thinks I look wierd, but it does help.

Amanda, I planned on posting some photos once I planted everything. I may do some of it tomorrow. We'll see when the rains come and how much pollen has refallen since I blew off everything. I did wear a mask today because it was so bad and I was blowing it with the leaf blower, making it worse.

Great plant selection - love those lillies - I'm hoping my one and only lily from last year will make a come back.:)
Can't wait to see your plants in the ground.

I did some last re-potting today and have two annual plants I don't have a pot for. I may just plant them in the ground and hope they'll make it for a little while.

Tomorrow it is on to the herb garden !
Then later it is grouting and laying down a little mosaic border in rainbow colors on the side of the carport.

wow! you scored,gurL !.....what a pretty variety....i was thinking about turning in my points for Home Depot GCs to buy perennials, but everytime i am at Borders, i end up spending over $20,so i am torn...maybe i will wait a bit longer so i can get 2 cards...

Cool! I bought some of those lilies too for our flower garden. Looks like you got a great variety of plants, and I'm amazed at how much you got for just under $50. I'm waiting (impatiently) for a Home Depot card I cashed out for from Gather a week or two ago. I'm planning on getting either red tips or azaleas with it. I've got some spots I want to plant stuff at and those are what I'm planning on there.
