Holiday pictures

We went and got Christmas pictures taken today.  We went to the portrait studio in Walmart.  Originally we were only going to get the basic package of the family, and then use our smiles card to get a free 8x10 of Elliott.  After talking to several members of my family, they convinced me to get more pictures, and offered to help pay for them.  So that's what we did.  We got the basic package, and then the smallest additional package they had.  We were able to get 3 additional poses in the additional package.  And then use our smile card for another one still.  Since we had to wait so far past our appointment (almost 40 minutes), and because we had chosen a pose of Elliott and my husband, the lady gave us a free 5x7 of Elliott and me.  The only one we ended up not buying was the one of my husband and me.

 The picture of my husband and son turned out great.  Elliott had the cutest smile on his face.  She also got a great picture of Elliott looking at a book.  We were very happy with the way they turned out this time.

 Do you get pictures done professionally for Christmas?  Do you have the pictures taken of the whole family, or just the kids?  I would probably just do my son, except that I only see my parents and siblings, maybe once a year.  They like getting the pictures of my husband and me, too.

I want to get photos done professionally but now that I have my digital camera I may just take one of us this year myself 8)

I used to work at the Sears Portrait Studio before my youngest was born. The discount there was so good that I was always getting pics of my oldest done. We took one family portrait about 2 months before I got pregnant with my youngest. After she was born, I would take them to Walmart for their pictures but it would still wind up costing me over $60 a trip, so now I do them myself. I have bought fabric for the back ground and get them printed from Winkflash. Runs me about $20 - $30 now. I have also used other pictures of my girls that have turned out really well and send those too. But doing them myself often throws off my schedule of when they need to be taken. I still have to do their Christmas pics. We don't have a current family portrait that includes both our daughters but plan on doing one soon. Won't be getting too many copies of that one since, unlike your family, our family doesn't want the ones that include my husband and I.

As you probably know, I had the glamourshots done. I hope I win more so I can have my son get some. We did some non-professional ones in April, but I haven't done a thing with them.

I would like to get professional pictures taken of the whole family after the baby is born, but my husband won't hear of it. He is a photographer and thinks that no one will do as good a job as he will. I love having him take our pictures, but we don't have any with him in them.

Sounds nice! I never get pictures done.. only pictures I have are from when the kids were all tiny.. i take tons of pictures with my digital cam!

We don't pay for a professional. All my children have cameras and one son has a real good one.

We probably wouldn't do professional either, if we were still close to home. This is the best way to get the whole family in one shot, though. Plus it's easier than going and printing out the various sizes myself. :)

We used our digital camera to take pictures of our children this year but I'll most likely do professional next year.

So happy that you were able to get all

We haven't had a professionally done
photo of us for over 20 years.

When you have young kids, you gotta have lots of pictures. They change so fast. Ours are not 16-18-20. I really want a family portrait done next summer.

we usually go as a family in the summer for a portrait
but my Christmas pic card is usally a snapshot from vacation.
this year it was my son playing soccer.
