Robert's Christmas Poem II

And the king shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Mt 25:40.

THE REASON WE'RE HERE

TODAY I SEEN AN ORPHANED CHILD IN THE STREET

DIRTY, LONELY, WITH NO SHOES ON HIS FEET

I WATCHED AS A STORE KEEPER SHOOED HIM AWAY

I TURNED MY EYES TOWARDS HEAVEN AND BEGAN TO PRAY

"DEAR GOD, WHY DO YOU LET SUCH THINGS BE,

HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US AND REFUSE TO SEE ?

THIS LAD IS A CHILD OF YOURS, BUT YOU LET THIS GO ON,

WHY WON'T YOU DO SOMETHING TO HELP THIS CHILD ALONG ?"

BUT NO REPLY CAME AND I WENT ON HOME

GOT READY FOR BED, TURNED THE LIGHTS DOWN LOW

WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ANSWER CAME SO TRUE

GOD REPLIED;

"I DID DO SOMETHING - I SENT YOU !"

Yes, this is true, isn't it? People wonder "why isn't God doing something about it?" all the time. They don't realize we are His hands and feet. We are His eyes and mouth, His heart to love. Great writing, Robert!

We are, indeed our brothers' keepers. I hope everyone is giving to needy all year round. Whether it's a charity, the troops overseas or needy families in our communities, whatever we do for them is the same as doing it for God. Let's be generous.

Very good reminder. My favourite Bible verse by far, BTW. The fact that we are the ones who have the choice of being God's instruments in this world is often overlooked. Thanks for bringing it up.

I always look upon that person lonely or begging for food on the street as possibly being Jesus there just watching who will help him or who will turn him away. I rarely ever turn anyone away because I would not want to make the mistake of turning Jesus away, so I open my heart and help anytime that I can.

We must always have our eyes and ears open to receive the messages that God sends us and try to adhere to his plans.
