My younger cat is huge! He weighs about 27 pounds and if standing on the floor, his claws can reach the kitchen counter!
Due to his size, it's hard for him to reach the base of his tail (near his hind legs) to groom himself.
I have tried regular brushes - they work so-so. Today I tried the Shed 'N' Blade. I had used one for the dogs years ago - and they work very well.
The best part is that the cat LOVES when I groom him! I worked only for about 15 minutes and took out enough hair to cover a litter of kittens. I guess I need to groom him more often especially now, in the late spring, when he needs to get rid of the excess... want to get to it before it all mats up.

Interesting. I have a short hair that has a thick coat. He loves to be brushed but no matter how often I brush he still sheds. Maybe this would be perfect. He is over weight too. I bought one of those laser lite pointers and he loves chasing it. My he can work off some weight.
I have never had to groom either of my cats, they are very picky/clean! Now...if some of that would rub off on my dog I would be happy! He's so dirty! I can give him a bath and 10 minutes later he is dirty again!
Sounds like a great product! Where can I purchase one for my dogs?
I dont have pets but I am glad you love your cat!
Glad you found something that worked well!.....PIF

My cat, Bella, is just like this. I use a 2-sided brush on her (wire & bristles)-she loves it!
Cats seem to have differing opinions on grooming. Brushing is usually okay, but showering, not so much. Did you know a cat can climb a ceramic tile wall? I didn't until we had to bathe a really dirty cat! PIF
I love cats. I have 2. One weighs 13.5 and the other 15.5. They are my big boys PIF
