I went with my sisters to decorate graves last week. I know that Memorial Day was originally Decoration Day and was for decorating/remembering Veterans. We have always done graves of Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents, Cousins etc. I think Memorial Day is now for honoring/remembering those that have gone before us. I am big on family genealogy, but have already gleaned as much info as I can from these trips, gotten pics of the headstones, one year I took pics of the Cemetery signs. So this year, I took pics of interesting headstones and just whatever caught my eye.

We have always called this one the "Tree Cemetery"...rows and rows of these trees.

I can se you would call it a 'Tree cementary". It looks beautiful.
Beautiful photos! I, too, have lost lots of loved ones, but I love cemeteries and find them soooo wonderful to spend time in, just walking around, looking at some very amazing headstones.....up where Mom & Dad are buried, there are lots of headstones from the 1800s.....found one where the guy died in 1800......could hardly read the writing on it, but a very unique stone!
We had such a wonderful time, decorating all the graves......even spent time at the small ponds, where there were swans, ducks, geese, and baby ones......it was just so incredible! We sat on some of the memory benches and really enjoyed it sooo much....with a wonderful breeze!
I like cemeteries too Nora! I have never been to one that had a duck pond!
It looks like a beautiful resting place

What a beautiful cemetary. Our scouts decorate all the graves (over 20000) here
While I would never say I liked cemeteries, the one where I have many loved ones makes me feel peaceful. I wish they had the row of trees like that. I think it adds a lot.
Such a pretty cemetery
Those trees look like they are well cared for.
I think it is great with the trees. So many are bare of trees and don't seem like pleasant places to visit.
A few great photos! I am sorry this makes you sad amy. Thats what Memorial day is all about.
Beautiful pictures,I'm glad it is well kept.
Have a great gather day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for posting to sparealine.gather.com

I think our loved one want us to honer them and not cry for them,, I like to go visit my history...
Very nice. The cemetary where my loved ones are is in the middle of remodeling and I hope it looks as nice and green as this one when finished. You know in my family there is a funny story where my uncle as a teenager was out riding his bicycle at night when a cop tried to stop him to find out why he was out so late. Well my uncle took off on his bike and turned to ride through the cemetary trying to get away. It was so dark out there that he rode straight into an open grave that was set for a funeral the next day, bike and all. Ha, Ha. I guess that was the perfect place to hide. lol PIF
