Lilacs

Here are some Lilacs for those who love them

This bush has a deeper, darker color, the buds look like berries. ^

 

 

These are opening a little. They are right next to each other but at different stages. I think this bush gets more daytime sun.

 

These bushes I see everyday when I walk to see my grandkids, son or go to the store. The whole street smells so nice. It's natural aroma therapy.

Thank you! have very old purple lilac bush along one side of the property and a huge old white lilac bush out back. Mine aren't blooming yet. Usually they open just in time for Mother's Day

Thats a great picture essay as I really like lilacs,but I need most of the yard for daylilies.

This is a nice photo essay, at least now when my hubby asks if the plant at the side of my neighbors house is lilacs I can say YES! LOL

I love lilacs, we had 5 bushes in our yard in MN. I just planted 2 small lilac bushes, I hope they make it!. Out here they aren't as abundent as back in the Mid West.

Oh, I do adore them so, and one of the things I have to admit to missing about Michigan. Ah, I can smell them in my memory, one of my most favorite scents, I always knew there had to be a bush from a block away, and would follow the scent until the bush was found, take off a bit of the flowers to bring home to enjoy, definitely good for the mood!

I just bought a lilac bush last week and my husband planted it. I love these bushes, it reminds me of when I was a child.

I wish they were in MY yard....I've seen those darker richer colored one but can't figure out what their called aside Lilacs.....do you know? Great shot...I can almost smell them! ;0)

When I got married, I had lilacs and peonies for my bouquet. Our lilac bushes are also blooming and I'd post some pics.....except I'm still not able to post images on Gather....AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH.

I love your comment about "natural aroma therapy". I have a number of flowers with intense fragrance. When I am stressed, or when I first come home from work and am just plain dog tired, I take a deep wiff of one of my flowers. It makes me feel so much better.

are they easy to grow? I love the yellow jasmines that grow on vines and fences in the summer and fill the air with fragrance, but have never tried to grow them. Maybe I should and some lilac and lavender too.
