I stopped going to the library on 113th Street due to noise.
I decided to go to the branch on 66th Street and found it to be MUCH quieter.
BUT: there are some people who seem to be homeless who spend the day there. And one seems to be very sick. She was sitting about 4 feet behind me and sneezing and coughing the whole time I was there.
So... I had to decided - noise or germs... hmmmm.
Back to noise. I'll see if I can take it, otherwise I'll check out other libraries... There are many in the system.

Because we also have the homeless in my area, and they want to be just as comfortable in a public place just as we do then I carry gum, cough drops, peanut butter crackers and snacks in a book bag to share with them. I have a special place in my heart for the homeless.
She has mental problems also... I cannot imagine what that all is like.
Blessings & a bit o' sunshine to you m'dear!
Have you tried going at a different time of day? A lot of libraries are very quiet until the kids get out of school. Also, find out when they have their story times as it will probably be noisy for a half hour before or after that.
