She is so lucky she has never been in the hospital before. That is a good sign that she must be healthy. Good luck to her.

Of course she has my prayers, I hope I won't have to have the same one day.

I will keep her in my prayers that her surgery is successful.

I hope all will go well for her. I have a friend who had 2 knee replacement surgeries a few months ago and she did great during and after the surgery.

I will keep her in my prayers. Hospitals are frightening enough for those of us familiar with them.

I will definitely keep your mother-in-law in my prayers......I'm sure it must be very scary, if she's never been in a hospital, ever........I've only been in one, one time.....when our kid was born, but that's it. Please keep us posted!

The key to knee replacement is the therapy. Do Not do home therapy. If you have to attend a group session out of the home, it forces accountability which is the greatest thing for anybody having the surgery. She must realize a goal, which in her case will be about 90 degree movement, and then work towards that end. There is a fine line between babying oneself and overdoing it. Neither is good. If the hospital uses the machine that they put in the bed under the knee, use as directed. It forces the knee to exercise. This is very important.

When she gets home, a large bag of frozen peas works real well as an ice pack. It forms nicely to the knee and is easily refrozen. Just don't open. Do all the exercises the therapist advises. Her future mobility will depend on it.

Thanks Paidra!! I do hope she listenes. My Nanny had it done in 1996 and did well. She tried to skimp on the home therapy but I wouldn't let her. We forced her to do the exercises and it turned out well.
