Happy Birthday to my college daughter...today she is 19. 19 years ago today I was working at home for my job as a medical claims processor. I started feeling the pains and it was the only time that I was home that the other processor on the job called me to ask questions on how to process a claim!
I remember laughing that I was going into labor and they had to bug me!(it would not be the only time). Ihad stood up and felt this goosh come out, but since I was wearing some panty liner it looked like foam! I called the dr and went in..they said that the water broke and go to the hospital...I had my 4 year old with me and her father met me on the way. 12 hours later Jen was born. She was a tranverse lie, and the dr was saying how they can turn her....I was like...huh! but she turned on her own. The cord was wrapped around her neck, but they caught this and she was ok. Another woman I knew, who was pregnant at the same time had a similar situation, but her baby died.
It is hard to believe that she is now 19 or that I have been living in my house for 20 years.
One story out of this is....I didn't want to have another baby, I was fine with the other 2. I had no feelings thu out the pregnancy, he had wanted this not me. He kept trying(I knew something was up with increased activity when we had been together for years already).
The afternoon after I had her, I was in a room directly across from the Nursery. I had been wishing that my mother could be there, it was the first baby without her to help. She had passed away in 86. I looked up out the door, It was visting hours. Standing next to Jen was my mother, she looked down at her- then at me and smiled...then she vanished. Did she really come? Was it a leftover hallucination from all the meds? I don't know and never will. But...what that did in a instant was to bring those motherly feelings towards that baby.
So Happy Birthday Jen
