Well, today they had a new girl in the lab who was in training. And of course she gets stuck with! I felt bad for her, soI forewarned her that first off, I have very deep veins and they can be extremely hard to find, and second, that I am not a bleeder.
I told her it would probably be easier for her to use a butterfly needle and take blood from the back of my hand. Well, easier said than done as she found out. The lady training her ended up having to try and hit the vein. She did, and it blew! LOL

If you look close, you can actually see the hole the needle left in my hand. For some reason the bruise doesn't show well in the picture.

Since they couldn't get blood from there, they tried in the arm, but no dice.

And by then, they finally called Pat, who is the best there is at getting blood out of me. But today! Today she couldn't even get 1/4 of a vial of blood. So that was bandage number three. Right on the wrist.

Pat told me that if it wasn't enough blood, they would be calling me back in to try it again another day!
Pat loves me, and she always teases me about giving everyone a hard time when they try and take my blood. Unfortunately, she couldn't get it either. She refused to try a fourth time since my right arm already liked like a pincushion and it is even harder to get blood out of my left arm.
Oh well. Good thing I am not afraid of needles or a little pain! The next appointment will be to get my mammogram. At least I won't get poked and prodded with that. Just squished!
