GatherWriMo: Day 2! (November 2, 2008)

I was going to do NANOWRIMO, but decided to try and write 500 words a day on my exisiting novel instead, which means Nov 2nd will mean 1000 words. It's nowhere near 3334, but it's steady progress

Whew. Day 1 done YAY! I made it!1,869 words.

Hm it's still day one where I am... for nearly another hour.

I wrote a wooping 123 words for day 1. I ended up changing my plan and my new idea requires some research and the library hours for the weekend are exactly the hours I ended up working this weekend. Everyone thinks it is great it started on a weekend this year, but from the start I knew starting on a weekend would be bad for since that is mostly when I have to work at very specific times and does not leave much flexibility. Sure I could go without the research, but I would prefer to get the information I need and write the parts I want historical accurate actually accurate now and be more motivate to finish the novel than get to the 50,000 words. This year my goal for NaNoWriMo is not a 50,000 word novel that I get burnt out on and do not care to finish, but rather something I really try at for quality and want to continue working on if it takes me more than a month to write and actually finish it and hopefully even publish. I still am hoping for and think I can do 50,000 words, but it is more about the motivation of the month than actually completing the NaNoWriMo official goal.

I'm around 2900 words at the end of 1 1/2 hours of writing on day one.

My minimum goal for day 2 is 3536 (total)

I wish I could play too, but I've got too many edits to make. I was tempted, as I am every year, to join in. It's still early ... I may have a breakdown and decide to jump in. Best of luck to all the NaNoWriMo Raiders!

I'm currently on 3,997 words -- and figure that's a good place to take a break for now, maybe do some more later. ::salutes:: I've come to the conclusion that I should just shut off my internal censor and editor, write what comes to mind, and sort it all out after I've crested the 50,000 word goal.

I'm trying for a humorous collection of ramblings, since that's my specialty area, in case anyone was wondering. ::grins::

On a side note, OpenOffice's autorecovery feature is nifty - you can set it to save a draft every so-many-minutes (in tools/options/load and save). I've got mine set to five minutes, because I recall getting so pissed off by losing a few thousand words one year that I gave up entirely.
