How Much Is That $1.50 A Head Of Lettuce Really?

I know that illegals do tend to live in herds. I didn't realize that up to 60 kids could be living in one 2 or 3 bedroom home... figuring that most homes are at least 2 or 3 bedrooms. That is so ridiculous.. I just wonder about roaches and bedbugs and lice.. oh Gosh!

You are absolutely right Kevin. I welcome any immigrant that wants to enter our country legally, learn our language, respect our laws, and give honest work for fair pay. The illegals are ruining our economy.

You made some very interesting points I myself and I am sure others have pondered. I truly believe that, if the illegals were not running rampant in this country, many things would actually have been cheaper.

There is a lot of truth in this. I don't know what the answers are and I doubt if our legislators and presidential candidates do, either.

There would be 20 million more Americans employed, millions of fewer cars using gas etc. I say buy from a local farm stand whenever possible.
A month ago the NY Times reported an illegal that died from a trench collapse in Brooklyn and they indited the owner of the construction co and the engineer. An adjoining article told how this hard working, decent man sent more than 1/2 his income home to Columbia to take care of his family. Yes it is noble but we don't justify robbing a bank to feed our families. He took home $700/wk, yeah jobs an American wouldn't do, right. Doesn't that constitute money laundering? At $400/wk. his family should be living like royalty, where $100/wk is decent.
Ever wonder why our small stores are closing up? The only ones still open in some parts of this country are the bodegas.

We are being drainesd 10 different ways, I am surprised we lasted this long.

Would be great if they were all legal. They would be better off, for sure. Business wouldn't be able to take advantage of them. Their children could become the doctors, lawyers and legislators of tomorrow. I think it is a problem that was a long time in the making...and will be a long time in the fixing.

I live in a subdivision where every third house is first or second generation from another county. This is a wealthy area and some of these people own businesses.

Yet some of them PRETEND not to understand or speak English, even after being in the states for 12 years or more. It makes me sick. They steal our water (via outside hoses) don't pay for trash pickup, instead using our cans, after they rummage through ever sheet of paper in our can.

Welcome to America? Screw you go back to your own country.
We can hardly afford to pay for ourselves, I am tired of paying for illegals!

and it's a situation that isn't being solved
so it keeps getting to be a larger and worse situation.

We live next door to some very nice people...well, I say nice because they leave us alone and we leave them alone. But it is impossible to figure out how many people live there and they do have quite a few kids living with them. It's certainly not 60. But it's way too many people for that little house. They have way too many cars and until this last year didn't take care of the property. We've lived here 3 years and our neighbors tell us that the city has been trying to get these people out for years because of the way they keep the place. But then suddenly this last year they started cleaning up and out.

I don't know. I get very frustrated over the issue. But our own people often use emergency rooms instead of doctors and put a drain on our society. Maybe we should be looking for solutions to make their stay here profitable for them and for us all.

Look for Obama to offer them amnesty and "path to citizenship". The Democrats want those votes to seal a British Labor Party style election-proof majority.

Your post explains why I moved out of California and millions of boomers will be moving soon. Liberals have destroyed the state, and they won't be able to raise enough taxes to pay for their obligations. State worker pension funds alone are gong to bankrupt them. Have you noticed how they won't make any cuts to immigrant services -- despite a massive deficit?

We always had Mexican migrant workers come to our town to work at Morgan Packing Company and in the tomato fields. A lot of them were illegal I imagine. There was some that came to our school. My first and second husbands were a part of that clan. The first was from Brownsville, Texas, and the second husband was a friend of his from Pharr, Texas. Both of these were born in Texas and were legal. I truly enjoy the Mexican culture. My daughter is by the first one. When I met him in high school he was so shy and was having a hard time "knowing" what to do in school. We became friends as I showed him around school and helped him learn the things he needed to learn to function with us. They are just a group of people trying to survive and probably if any of us were in their shoes, we would do all we could to survive as well. Many of them are so uneducated they just don't know what to do. As these people learned, those that came to live with us in Austin, they became just like others. There is good and bad in all cultures of course, and there was a lot of hatred and race prejudice against the Mexican people in Austin, there were fights and killings. There are so many as they use to be here as Morgan's fields have closed down, they left children behind and among us, beautiful brown eyed, dark skinned latino children.

I am told that in the near future most of the U.S. will consist of people of color, not only the Latino, but these are suppose to be the largest group of young people in the U.S. Those who settled our country, my ancestors and yours from Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy and other parts of Europe will be dying out and the U.S. will be mostly populated with people of color from Asian countries and many others.

Educating them in how to survive among us is a key as I saw the ones with me learn and grow and excel.

My first husband's brothers, one was a whiz in Algebra and went into some kind of field of Mathematics in the Air Force, made a career of that, another brother of his joined the Army, became a nurse in the Army, so many of them serve our country very well.

Your comments are very true. I am proud to know folks in this culture. My difficulty is with anyone who enters our country illegally.
