One of my childhood friends just celebrated the Birth of their beautiful baby girl!!!
A Las Vegas family is celebrating more than just a new year. The Witt family welcomed a baby girl early New Year's Day at Sunrise Children's Hospital.
Like so many families, they are happy 2008 is over and can't wait to welcome the changes 2009 will bring, even if those changes include the costs that go along with a baby.
"She was just beautiful, she was perfect. I counted ten toes, ten fingers, she was just perfect," new mom Leah Atwood said.
Perfect and priceless... until you start doing the math. A baby born in 2009 could cost more than a quarter of a million dollars by the time the child reaches 18 years old.
Leah and her husband Bobby Witt welcomed a baby girl into the world at 12:31 in the morning. Braylyn Joelle weighs just six pounds, 10 ounces, and is 19 inches long.
Right now the bundle of cash they'll need to raise a child during these tough economic times isn't their top priority. "I don't really know how to feel about it just yet," Leah said. "We'll see how much money we have to spend next year between the three of us."
Aside from being the first Las Vegas baby born, as far as we can tell, in the year 2009, Baby Braylyn will have this story to tell. Her mom was born on December 30 and her dad celebrates his birthday on December 31. Dad admits he would have liked his daughter to have arrived a half hour earlier.
CONGRADULATIONS LEAH & BOBBY - WE ARE SENDING BIG LOVE!
