I won't see my baby for 8 days!

Sam is spending the night with John's parents tonight so he can go with them to a birthday party tomorrow down by where they live.  We are flying out to Alaska.  After the party, John's mom and dad will bring Sam back to our house and watch him there.  We won't see Sam again until NEXT SUNDAY, June 15 (John's first father's day!).

I am so excited about Alaska, but if I think too much about Sam I get teary-eyed.

Poor Mom! The first long separation is so hard. But don't worry--he'll be fine.
It'll be sad, but a break is a good thing once in a while. Just remember, he's being well taken care of, and that you are getting a wonderful vacation. :)

My first week long vacation without my daughter was hard! Just know, he'll do fine, he's with people he loves and who loves him. Have a good time!

My only thoughts are, please try to celebrate that you are allowing your baby some confidence and independence. It may be a good time for you to treat yourself gently and remember what you used to do with your time before Sam!

I don't know how you do it. I have never left my 13 month old with anyone and I don't think I left my older kids with anyone overnight until they were 9.

Take advantage of your free time. My kids both went on a cruise with their dad and step mom 3 days after Katrina hit. They had left from Galveston. While they were gone, Rita hit. They were out to sea for 15 days! If your baby is in good hands, relax.

I think parents can have some separation anxiety themselves, I know I hd a hard time going away the first time.
