Celebrate National Train Day with Gather and You Could Get a Train Book for Your Kids!

On May 10th, Amtrak will be celebrating the anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah in 1869 with a 4 city celebration! Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., and Chicago will all hold great celebrations for you and the family.  But why wait? You can celebrate for a month with contests, events and some great fun here on Gather!

We'll start with the kids so get your pencils ready! Share your kids' drawings of trains in the NTD Train Drawing Event! 10 lucky members will receive a copy of The Little Choo-choo Book and Train Set!! 

Publish your drawings to the All Aboard Group by Friday, April 18th. The lucky recipients will be announced on Monday, April 21st.

Want to have more National Train Day fun? Here's how you can:

  • Enter the "Which Train Are You?" Icon Contest and you could win $100 AMEX Gift Card (look for announcement article)!
  • Tell us if you want to be a National Train Day reporter at one of the four cities mentioned about (article to come soon).
  • Enter any of the following upcoming contests!

My six year old is crazy about trains. I am looking forward to participating in the upcoming contests. I make a mean train cake ;-)

WOW, THis is my most favorite group. my grandkids & I just love trains, so look for our entries in your contests.

And I would adore being a reporter for National Train Day for either NY or Washington DC. I can get to one or the other very easily.

Hi Everyone!! I'm so glad you're enjoying the contest. I agree with Victoria, it would be easier if we had a common tag. If you publish a drawing (or any thing for National Train Day) please tag it with "NTD" - I don't think that should be used! If you've already published and want to go back and update with the tag that would be great. I have let everyone's in so far though!!
