This morning we had our first Ob/gyn appointment. We went toContemporary Ob/Gyn near our home with Dr. Byerly at 8:05 a.m.
Themorning started out rough! We missed the alarm clock completelyand woke up ten minutes before we needed to be leaving the house!!!AAAAAHHHH full of adrenaline running around like a crazy womanstill got there on time and in time to fill out the mountains ofpaperwork.
<><> The Doctor's office was nice it had a reallybig waiting room with plenty of seating and a pop and snackmachine. Matt went with me. We got all the paperwork filledout and they had me pee in a cup while I waited to see the Dr.<><> When it was our turn we went back and the weighedme - 225 lbs at this time - and took my blood pressure - 117/80at this time . After taking my vitals they took us to anotherroom where I was instructed to undress waist down and hop up ontable. I was told they will be doing a pap since I haven't hadone in a while.
<><>We settled in to wait for the doctor andwere not kept waiting long. I was impressed in that the thingthey gave me to cover myself with was cloth not paper and kept me muchwarmer. The doctor came in. She was a petite pretty blondelady and very friendly. She said that all the doctors at thepractice were women, they all are nice but that she is the nicest! :)It made me smile when she said that and I liked her instantly. They made me feel comfortable and at ease.
<> <><>Myurine had a little bacteria in it so she prescribed me an antibioticthat won't hurt the baby saying that it is probably due to a mildurinary tract infection (probably too many bubble baths, need to switchto showers for a while) and she also prescribed prenatal vitamins toreplace the over the counter ones I had been taking. The Paptest, well it was a pap test and those are never pleasant. Shetold me to expect a little bleeding from it and not topanic. She asked if we had any questions so I asked if I wasstill allowed to drink my vitamin enhanced waters that I like (propel, etc) and she said they are fine.
<> <><><>We thenwere directed to the counter for check out. The nurse therescheduled me for an ultrasound next Wednesday (they are doing it sosoon because I had an ectopic - tubal- pregnancy when I was in mytwenties) and I am scheduled with the OB nurse for the Wednesday afterthat. Then my next Ob follow up appointment with the Doctor willbe on the 23rd and it will be with Dr. Peterson, another Doctor in thepractice who has earlier hours which will allow me to not miss as muchwork.
<> <><><><>Next we walked down the hall tothe lab so they could draw blood for my "prenatal workup" they had alittle trouble finding a vein and then they took 7 vials ofblood. I was a little nauseated after but think I would have beeneven if I wasn't pregnant.
<> <><><><><>That finished us up for the day so I came on into work!
<> <><><><><><>Mymental state is still very positive and good, I am excited and happyabout the baby as well as happy with my life. One of my friendsjust moved back from Florida and we will be getting to spend time withthem and other friends tonight at the monthly get together my one groupof friends has on the last friday of every month. I am making abrie popover to take as my contribution. Plus my boss is off worktoday so I was able to dress down and I am really comfortable!
<>
<><><><><><><>My physical state is still pretty good too. Not toomuch nausea, slight sinus infection and the minor urinary tractinfection. I am hoping the "baby friendly" antibiotic sheprescribed will take care of both of those problems for me.
That is my update for today December 28,2007.

Did she test you for Group B strep and other possible infections?
Also, I'm sure you know this, but a large percentage of brain development and eye development comes from the Omega 3s you eat, so cold ocean fish, not farmed or large predator fish, are good to eat several times a week, along with fish oil supplements. The best supplements are molecularly distilled which takes out any contaminants. Babies that receive Omega 3s during pregnancy and breastfeeding have five points more IQ.
Also, our vaginas often have bacteria in them, so from now on your OB should not do digital exams, which can introduce bacteria through the cervix near the baby. Ultra sounds are better for exams to see what's going on. Most offices have ultra sound machines, so they don't need to do digital exams. And never let your OB talk you into stripping your membranes when you're ready to deliver. There are many alternatives to this practice, and stripping membranes can introduce bad bacteria up inside the uterus harming your baby.
It's been over 21 years since I was where you are now, but I still remember and treasure that time. It is so exciting.
He also felt my belly and said I am measureing 14 weeks instead of 12.. So I guess thats exciting.. I measured big with my youngest baby the whole time also by 2 weeks. Had him exactly 2 weeks early and he weighed 8 lb 8 oz so I am expecting that again! Thanks for doing this neat update! I will have to do one for mine also! I really enjoyed reading ALL this! ;) thanks and take care!! Congratulations again!!
Edith, I have to watch them do it or I jump at the wrong moment and make it hurt worse. I am able to stay absolutely still if I am watching the needle go in but if I am not looking I imagine that it is worse then it is and jump and squirm all over the place!
I never enjoyed the pap test... Uuuugh.. Hated it. I was a cry baby on the table, squirming and saying OUCH that hurts over and over repeatedly.. LOL...
A Happy New Year to you when it comes pal xx
