But mommy why cant Lily ..............

my older kids are starting to ask me alot of questions about lily ,they see their own baby pictures and say well I did this why cant lily ?I catch them malking fun of her sometimes about how slow she crawls,I was wondering if anyone knows of some good books for siblings of special needs children to help them understand better ,They still dont get why lily goes to the dr all the time and why lily does not sit up or walk,they are really questioning and i think if i had a good book or something to help them understand it might be easier ,I try my best to help them understand but still just get more whys.

IM NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH LILLY BUT SOMETIMES YOU CAN FIND AN ORGONIZATION AROUND YOUR AREA THAT MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU OR MAYBE SOME INFO ON THE INTERNET GOOD LUCK LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES AND I WILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO

Lily has cerebral palsy so she does not siy up or walk yet and she is 14.5 months old ,she does crawl but it is slowly and akwardly ,we have a early interventionist coming to the house to work with her and she gets therapy one time per week it will be going up to 2 times per week soon .
I would go to my local Library and ask for assistance, or beings that you are able to get on a computer you could access your county library right from home. Just do a Google search for your county name, Library system. There are probably books on Amazon too that could be helpful.

maybe they would benefit from a trip to the dr with her.at least he can answer their ?'s books help,but dr's are people kids look up to.at least its worth a shot.

You have a tough road to walk. Just answer their questions simply. Give them no more or no less information than they ask for.

With your love and the love they have for Lilly it will be okay.

You must remind them that all people are very different in each ones own way! All people are unique, hair color, eyes, skin, development and ability! The list goes on. remind them that even though we are different we all need to love and be kind.

Yes. Exactly what Sharon and Bridget said! I also agree your children will ask why no matter what as that is children, though I think you have the right idea seeking guidance and books. It truly does take, and always has taken, a village. My blessings to you all.

your children are simply curious...i don't think they will truly grasp and understand the difference between them and lily until they are much older...answer their questions as best as you can and with time hopeful they will indeed understand.

Your regional center should have a lending library. I used them a lot when my kids were younger. I have some sibling books on my site and some are about special needs in general: http://autismspectrumdisorders.bellaonline.com

I don't know of any books but to all gather people here is a need. Books for special needs kids to see them self in the world and to be seen and understood by us all.

I'd definitely start google searching. You can easily start with "every child develops differently", but that will only delay the inevitable. I agree with the library posting - there should be some books available somewhere to help your kids understand.
