It's that time again. Cold winter and not being able to see sun for days. I have a toddle who will soon be 3 y/o and an infant who will soon become 9 m/o. No matter what I do with both of them it's always less. My toddler is too energetic that if I will not keep her occupied then she gets in trouble all the time. I don't want them to watch TV or play computer games all the time. Somehow that is what I end up doing with them to get some time for myself to do my other house chores. I feel guilty later on thinking that I can't give them full attention even though I am SAHM.
Do you have any idea of indoor activities which can keep these kids occupied and happy?
Something, which they can do on their own, after some instructions, and which can give me some time for my other chores.

My daughter loves them. Especially wooden puzzles, she never get bored of them.
My daughter loves the stories, especially it's acting out part. She has a great imagination. Sometimes she makes our whole house a beach and collects imaginative shells or sometimes she becomes mommy and try to entertain her own imaginative kids. Yesterday she learned about insects and was collecting all those imaginary insects from our living room named 'forest' for her.
Thanks again for mentioning the big cardboard box. I remember she liked to play with them when we were moving, I still saved couple of them, maybe this is what I was waiting for.
I haven't tried with paints yet, because I am sure when I will start it with her then she is not going to stop it, and I need to be there with her all the time, at least for first few times.
She is already working with blocks. She loves to stack things or put them in rows. You will always find stuff stacked or arranged in rows in my house, no matter whether they are blocks, crayons, color pencils, cheerios, chalk pieces or her shoes.
Ten unsolicited points from the world's worst connection. Merry whatever you celebrate!
Thanks so much for commenting on my page.
Coloring books are good.
I'm not sure what else you could do.
Get those stick foaom shapes in any craft store (on sale after HOidays, after Valentines day the herat shaped ones iwill be cheap) or go to a DOllar Atore, theyusually have them there, It's easy for her to peel off the backs anda stick them onboxes orpaper. Let her do hand prints on t shirts (old, get them in a package at a Wal Mart or K Mart) this is better for outside or well surpervised. I buy shower curtian liners for .99 at Dollar store for indoor paining crafts. Yarn and macaroni, she can string these into necklaces. I find lots of stuff at garage sales and dollar stores, my favorite haunts.
