I've been e-mailing back and forth for the past few months with a gather-ite who lives in San Diego. We seem to have similar interests and thought that a museum visit would be a nice way to get together.
We met at the Aerospace museum in Balboa Park (I've said that museum has EVERYTHING) to see the Da Vinci exhibit. We were both interested in seeing it.
I'd seen some of the models of Da Vinci's inventions many years ago at the IBM gallery in Manhattan, but this was more extensive. There was also a small gallery of reproductions of some of his art work here.
The problem is that whoever curated this exhibit did NOT have someone intelligent proofread the descriptions! There were odd ways of writing, odd grammatical errors. And the introductory video had so many errors, we were rolling with laughter.
Another problem I had with the exhibit was that so few of them were hands-on. They were made of wood and had gears and other movable parts - some of them had cranks one could use, but there were others I'd have liked to manipulate.
The museum itself is chock ful of military aircraft. A museum GUYS could love! We went to an innner courtyard/atrium and heard the planes landing at the airport (it's that nearby). The sound effects were perfect for the museum.
I am SO glad to have met Paula. She's intelligent, well read and has a wicked sense of humor. We seem to be similar in tastes and interests. I hope this is a new friendship that will LAST.

Even so - Da Vinci was a multi-talented genius!
