Hello to all of my wonderful Gather friends!
As many of you know, I have had a pretty rough year with my back. I went 2 weeks ago for my discogram with CT, and let me say...that was quite painful and unpleasant.
I had my follow-up visit with that doctor this past Thursday. He made sure that there no complications from the procedure. He told me that I would have to get the final word from my surgeon as to whether or not I would need to move forward with the surgery. He says that there is definitely reason for my pain. He says that thankfully my L4/L5 looks okay for now, but my L5/S1 has an annular tear and is not in great shape. I am guessing that I will find out more of the specifics when I go back to the surgeon this coming Thursday. According to the dr. that did the discogram, it seems that the surgeon will most likely want to move forward with the surgery. I am not real happy about that! I was hoping that there would be some other option. I am going to speak with the surgeon Thursday and make absolute certain that there is no other options for me. Are there any orthopedic surgeons out there that may have a clue?????? :-)
Wish me luck!!! I appreciate all of the prayers, thoughts, and love that has already been sent my way through all of this. I have made so many wonderful friends since I have joined Gather. You are all the best!
I am hoping that everyone else out there is doing well this Monday evening!

Nancy, you have some very good advice. I recently spoke to a client of mine and she gave me a business card to a very highly respected doctor to check out. I will see what my current surgeon has to say and then decide if I need to be seeking another opinion. I am hoping that there is something to alleviate my pain without having to have surgery and/or spend tons more money going to several more doctors!
I also feel for you on that Discogram (sounds like something out of Saturday Night Fever but sure as heck doesn't feel that way) as I had one also. The pressure and pain is unbelivable on your spine when they do that test. If you made it through that I think you are strong enough to make it through whatever else comes your way on this!
Good luck and you will be in my thoughts!

You're in my thoughts and prayers!
are you sure surgery is your last resort?
I'm not sure that surgery is the answer.
Thanks again to everyone!
