Book review: Boy meets Girl (a pocketful of wedding stories)

I was so excited to get a signed copy from Zara Stevens thanks to Gather, and I couldn't wait to get started. 

This book was a delightful, easy read.  As Sophie prepares for her wedding, we visit the marriages of a handful of her friends, which take place around the globe.  I was fascinated by the tales of arranged marriage, female circumcision, a shotgun wedding, a wedding marred by tragedy and so many others.  I was drawn into the lives of each of these women, and I would love for Zara to devote an entire work of literature to each of them.  As I'd leave one friend and meet the next, I longed to know more about how their lives were playing out.  When the women gather for Sophie's wedding, it's like seeing old friends.  As they give advice to the new bride, you get a hint of where their decisions and weddings have taken them. 

I'm a sucker for a wedding, and I loved this book full of wedding tales.

Oh, I want to read this book....one of the other ladies wrote a review on this book here on Gather too....how did you get a signed copy of it....this is an awesome book review by the way!

Maybe I'll check it out. I was a wedding photographer's assistant and went to hundreds of weddings - which inspired me to elope! I'm not saying I don't love weddings - I do, but seeing all the money that was spent and the stress on the family, we decided to put a down payment on a house instead. But perhaps I could read this book and live vicariously. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds like a good book to read. I planned one wedding in my life. It was for my daughter and she was down in Kentucky, so I was on my own to get everything organized. I was pleased with the results and so was she.
