She poem....for all you nonconformists

she made you feel like a failure like a loser like a freak like the outcast like you were the odd one out and she made your life miserable

because you spent it trying to make her like you when you knew you couldn't ever succeed and she made you into her slave without even realizing it while at the same time you were her adversary because you hated her admired her loved her envied her allatonce and you're confusing even you because you're s p r e a d out

all until

over you

place breathe

and nothing's right anymore since she took everything you had away from you and made you feel like jumping off a cliff somewhere

and straining your old tired eyes you try to see the woman picking through the trash for something to eat across the street and you reach into your purse to offer her some change when

she turns around

and it's her

almost like it was yesterday

but god she looks so old like she's a million years old

her eyes once like those of a predator studying its prey gleaming with malice and measuring and scanning

those eyes now reduced to dead matter not even thinking anymore

is this what that once rock star girl has become
