We had so much fun at the Gecko festival!
A free annual event.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Geckos everywhere -
a fun street festival near the waterfront.
It seems like everyone in Gulfport participates, three different music stages, the whimsical shops and the sidewalk cafes in the art district made it fun and entertaining.
Face painting, 170 booths - something for everyone. I loved all the tropical art.
The artist at work.
Inside the shop was more amazing artwork on display.

It was classic Gulfport - laid back Island vibe at it's best!
Family friendly, dog friendly, definitely bohemian, artsy, relaxed, good times and good food and not yet discovered as an in-place to visit.

A rainbow flag twirling performance

Great smelling - fresh coffee

It doesn't get any fresher than this ......

Geckos - Geckos - Geckos

Wouldn't you like one of these smiley faces
holding your toilet tissue?

The Geico people were there with fun prizes.
I won a drawstring rucksack and
my son won
a really cool Gecko T-shirt.

The light up toys and gadgets were popular

Hula Hoops that light up

Looks kinda cool, doesn't it?

The kids loved all the activities ...

... or just came along for the ride:)

We love Gulfport for it's bohemian atmosphere and
cool sidewalk cafes.
I've posted about Gulfport's colorful bistros and outdoor cafes before, so to keep it fresh, here is one that I haven't shown you.
We had - actually only Richard had - a German Weizenbier, a Paulaner, there. Served in the traditional tall glass no less.
I enjoyed one of their fresh root beer on tap.

There were a ton of people there,
last year they had 15,000 visitors.
So it made perfect sense that they had
their very own
Gulfport trolley in operation.

Pirates on a pub crawl ...

Seconds before I took this photo
the street was lined with bikes.
Next time I want to check out this upper deck
overlooking the Bay.

On the next street corner is O'Maddy's,
I tell you,
you couldn't have stuck a fork in it!

I'm not sure what kind of contraption this is,
but
it sure looked interesting.

The pier looked so romantic in the twilight.
Couples strolled the length or sat on one of the benches
looking up at the full moon or
at the calm water in the Bay.

We ended our evening
at an outdoor cafe
listening to the music on stage.

It doesn't have all the fancy stuff like they do near the fancy resorts.
