Ever had someone sing to you? Oh, yes I have, let me share the love and the fun with you. I'm smiling now, flashback, sweet memories of being a teenager in Europe and a young woman in America. Serenades, poetry set to music, adoration and celebration of a woman, how cool is that.
I smile, remembering pimple faced teenage boys, warm summer nights, long forgotten music, fun and laughter.
- The first time, I was sixteen, there he was, standing outside my bedroom window with two of his best friends for moral support. It was exciting, I had butterflies in my tummy and couldn't stop smiling for three days. Every detail was rehashed a million times with my best friend. It was also a little embarrassing, every window in the neighborhood opened and the town gossip next door had her window open before I even opened my shutters.
He took a bow and handed me a red rose, it was soo romantic.
I'm still smiling when I think about it.

- The second time, in France, I'm still sixteen and one of the boys I met on a school trip serenaded me outside my window at the youth hostel in Strasbourg. I liked him, but was torn about hanging out with him, because I had a boyfriend back home.
The next evening the two of us got lost in the park and missed our group bus back to the youth hostel. I panicked, because they had impressed upon us that the doors would be locked at ten. We were rescued by a kind stranger who took pity and had her son drive us back to the youth hostel.
I'll never forget all the teasing and the razzing by the group.

- The third time, in the states - The young military doctor who delivered my son sang to me. "It's the real thing!:) A popular Coke slogan at the time. He held up my son by his feet and grinned from ear to ear, singing.
That was definitely the best out of all serenades I've received in my life.

There is more of course .....:), but these are not my memoirs, just a few good memories.
Think about it, isn't it great to be a woman and listen to a song like "To love a woman" or that ballad about the red dress or whichever song fills your soul with music.
I've often mentioned about some of the rough times in my life, but there were plenty of good times too.
Love reigns surpreme!
No matter how cruel the world may be, there is always someone somewhere serenading their loved one. It doesn't matter, if it's on an I-Pod or with a guitar outside your bedroom window, it still happens every day. It's wonderful to be adored, but when love blossoms, matures and deepens that is the greatest joy of all.
Sing for the joy of it - sing to your babies and grandbabies - adore each other.
Spread the love - PEACE!

Priscilla - good memories!:)
Wonderful photo essay ,Rose ! Nice.
Beautiful photo essay! Peace to you too!
Very nice. I had a BF in my teens who would play guitar and sing for me.
Good memories:)
Rose, this was lovely. Did anyone happen to sing "My Wild Irish Rose"? Just kidding. My husband used to sing "Can't Help Falling in Love With You". He was a good singer. I loved it. The photos are outstanding. Have a good week.
No wild Irish Rose - but a DJ friend in San Antionio played Cracklin' Rosie on his radio show for me, he had a crush on me.:)
Yes ...the highlight was a well known singer who publicly serenaded me on stage..
Jennifer - Now that's an honor not many of us have had:)
ah! yes but alkl hindi songs...admiring the grace of your post with beautiful pics...
Thanks Bhawana - I've heard hindi songs and they are beautiful.
I have two favorite singing memories, but neither one were serenades in your sense of the word. The first is my mother, who used to sing to wake us up in the morning. She did not have a good voice, and we would be pleading with her to stop, that we were awake.
The second is when I was a child and visiting New York City with my parents. We had just come out of the UN, and there was a woman standing there, singing to a line of people waiting for a bus. Being a child, I just thought that's what people in New York do...they have someone to entertain them while they are waiting for the bus.
Christine - that is too fun about the singer at the busstop:)
What sweet memories - a beautiful post!
Being married to a musician, I've been seranaded more times than I can count. :o) He's even written a song for me. I have little videos that he's recorded and sent to me saved all ofver my desktop.
On the more comedic side, many years ago, I worked as a secretary for BFI. All new hires got to go out on a garbage truck for the day, whether you liked it or not. We were at the landfill, when all of the guys who worked there dropped to one knee and sang, "There Are Tears in My Beer" to me. How many women can say they've been seranaded to THAT song at the dump?
ROFLMAO - thanks for the laughs Ina.:)
Very nicely done--and great memories.
A fabulous post, Rose!
Thank you so much!
So far, not, but I don't lose hope... a fantastic post, dear Rose! ;-)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
Lovely essay and gorgeous flowers!
Twice... one was my sister's boyfriend, and the other a man I had a relationship with for several years. Both played a guitar and sang, although my sister's boyfriend sang "The Boxer" (Simon and Garfunkel) and something else I can't remember. Not really romantic, but had he been single, I still might have been persuaded. He was pretty good.
The other guy sang "Desperado," "Tequila Sunrise" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling." Lucky for me, I wasn't an Eagles fan. I dodged that bullet.
Oh, I forgot to mention... GREAT post! And fantastic photos.
Music makes the world go round... : - )
People instantaneously break out in song when nearing you.
No one has sang to me but beans a day after ingesting.
You are in part 6, BTW.
Oh, this was just delightful, Rose.
