I gaze upon the flowers you brought me last
I can't believe how much time has passed
The leaves have shriveled up to a brittle brown
And I watch sadly as they fall to the ground.
They were beautiful Carnations once upon a time
When you gave them to me I began to cry
Such a lovely bouquet just for me
Representing your love for all to see
But that was a long time ago
And memories are all that I have left to hold
Our love was suppose to last forever and a day
At least that is what you use to say
But no more Carnations have come to my door
And I don't know if you think about me any more
Have I simply disappeared from your mind?
Is your heart the wavering kind?
It is amazing what a simple Flower can represent
It can make a woman's heart content
To know that her love values their relationship
Gazing upon the dying blossom my heart began to rip
As the last shriveled leaf falls and lay crumbled in my hand
Tears streamed from my eyes as I thought of the man
Who use to send me flowers just because he wanted to
Making me believe his love was true.
