As reported on http://www.artistdirect.com/ Steven Tyler has revealed the real reason behind his rehab stay last month: an addiction to pain and sleep pills. The Aerosmith singer originally released a statement in late May saying he sought the "safe environment" of a rehab facility while recovering from foot surgeries and physical therapy.
"To have your feet done, to have your leg done, you have to be on narcotics," Tyler told The Associated Press on Friday during the band's press day for Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. "You have to be on sleep aids at night. I don't know about (Aerosmith guitarist) Joe (Perry) but I was off and running and I didn't like the me that was me... so I just put the brakes on and checked into detox."
Tyler and Perry were known as the "Toxic Twins" during the '70s and early '80s, a peak of drug abuse for the pair.
