The new reincarnation of the reality T.V. program "Nashville Star" on its new home, NBC, is a poor imitation of its former self, from when it was first launched on the cable channel USA.
The thing that I loved about the Nashville Star program was that it featured real musicians and real singers; the country music flavor was an added bonus. Now that the program has been moved from USA to its parent company's flag ship NBC, the substance has been replace with mediocrity and all fizzle but no substance.
First off, I have no idea why the new producers of show, even bothered to keep "Nashville" as part of the show's title, since the majority of contestants, do not have any "Country" flavor or feel attached to them or to the music they perform.
Secondly, the sound quality associated with the show is beyond poor. Other than the judges and performers microphones, everything else, which includes the house band, sounds muted and distant, as rusty as I am, I could do a better sound mix.
Lastly, I could overlook the sound quality, if the producers had not attempted to mold the program into an "American Idol" wannabee. They truly forgot or intentionally overlooked the reason behind "Nashville Star's" previous success, which was the music was the most important aspect and that the appearance of the contestant was second.
So once again my review for the new "Nashville Star"; It SUCKS!
