Yesterday evening as I sat out on the deck I saw him. The most beautiful little bird. Even prettier than the gold fenches that arrive by the droves.
This guy has a brillant turquoise head and a reddish breast, with dark and white stripes on his wings. His belly is white. There he was at my feeder and I have never seen one like him before. Not in the feather so to speak.
I looked him up in a couple of my birdfield guides and he is a Lazuli Bunting a western version of an Indigo Bunting

Now isn't he a pretty sucker ??
