CHERRY STREET FARMERS' MARKET ~ Tulsa

After procrastinating last Saturday and buying terrible Grocery store Eggplant, I swore that today was the day I was to venture out of my comfort zone to parts West of me.
On the hunt for cucumbers that are crisp and cucumber tasting
Seeking out this season's popular purple beauty
and snatching up some good deals

From where we parked we could see flowers...I couldn't wait to get up close to see the bright colors and snap some photos.

There were ornamental Pepper Plants ~ which I would love to have some of...but I was on the hunt for veggies today, perhaps next week.

Yummy herbs

for folks who want to plant some in their own garden or flower bed.

Oh and there were dogs,

well behaved dogs like this one standing in the shade

More plants, which called to me but I'll let these be for now.
Next week I'll think about plants.

This booth had a huge assortment for sale

Does anyone know why the eggplants in this picture are so light colored?

I couldn't resist taking a picture of every dog we saw, this was the second one we came across...a beautiful coat and very cool eyes

A lot going on here...veggies and flowers...
are those onions I see?

There were booths for folks to sale other things besides veggies or plants

I think the butterfly is just right...and the sun a tad bit over the top...

And here is the last dog we saw...
I was very impressed that all the dogs were so well behaved...

There were a lot of booths with green beans and egg plants

Dang....I missed seeing these brussel sprouts until I looked at this picture...

I asked this young woman if I could take her picture...

she was making balloon figures

Sweet Bell peppers seemed to be everywhere...
here they're sharing the booth with some spinach

Could a watermelon and Cantaloupe find true love..
they're certainly paired together nicely.

I got busy on an eggplant and yellow squash

Tomorrow I'm thinking Cukes and onions in milk and vinegar

Beautiful photos! I just love our local Famer's Market. It just started a few years ago and now it's really big.

Thanks Vicky, I'm glad I got the first visit under my belt, so the next time I go I'll know where to park and which booths to check out first...ours isn't that huge but there's always going to be something yummy to buy..can't wait for potatoes to be available

Katherine, this must have been a great little trip. I'd have loved to gone there. How much was that squash? And, the light colored eggplant is a type I've never seen before. Don't know a thing about it. How far away is this for you? If it weren't too far it'd be worth going from time to time.

Maybe that sun was a Blue Moon, do you think it might be possible?

The dogs seemed to enjoy the market as much as the humans.

You took some really good photos. It was an interesting tour.

It was a trip worth taking Lynn. Made even better because Gary came along. The squash was 3 for 1.00...I think : - )
This Farmers market is close to downtown and we live on the east side of Tulsa...so a little ways, but mostly all highway, so not too hard to get to.

Ohhhhhh...perhaps it is a Blue Moon : - ) Gary says it had a price tag of 75.00

I know....the dogs were cracking me up because they were like in a world of their own,

Thanks Linda, next time I'll go the other way around the stalls and get photos of the stalls on that side : - ) We didn't spend a lot of time at the market...I pretty much looked for the veggies I had in mind to buy and took photos along the way...

If you look at the photo again you can barely see a window done up with mosaics...that's kinda cool, I'll have to look for that next time

Been storing them up, it's easy to take the photos but I can be a bit slow in getting around to uploading and thinking of a story to go with them...

What a great market! I wish our town market was this nice, it really leaves a lot to be desired and all the veggies are like $1.00 each or more.

Really...wow...maybe there's one in another town not too far away..in fact there's a Farmers Market down the highway East of us that I might check out this week...just to see if they have more of a variety...and perhaps some fruits

Oh what a fantastic Farmer's Market. I am not sure why the eggplant would be lighter colored like the ones you found, but according to what I found on the net it must have something to do with their variety. Go here and scroll about mid way down the page to see the Rosa Bianca eggplant (which is light pinkish/purplish and white).
I love all the dogs that were enjoying the market too. Great shots.

Thanks Renda for the link...next time I go to the market I'll get one of those and one of the long skinny ones as the flesh is suppose to be better then the dark purple ones.

I'm finding out from others that ours is one of the best around...so I'm lucky in that...and will most certainly being taking advantage of it as long as I can...at least until Oct.

great photos of your farmer's market. I haven't been to ours in a few years. My neighbor goes almost every Sat. morning this time of year. Love the dog photos too.

Thanks Marge, I didn't make it out to ours today, will have to hit the one on Wed..I'm needing tomatoes and refuse to buy store since the market is in season...and brussel sprouts have been calling to me
