Two Men Jump In Water, Save Boys Life!
An 8 year old boy from Nebraska taking in the Falls of the Big Sioux River with his family on vacation, apparently climbed over a railing of an overlook and fell into the water. The rapid current then carried him downstream. Two men (one local Sioux Falls citizen and one visitor from WI) went in the water and pulled the boy out. At that time he was unconsious and not breathing.
CPR was initiated, and the boy soon began breathing. He was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital where he regained consiousness.
It seems every year one or two people will either drown or need rescuing after either falling in or attempting to cross the falls on foot. Looks can be deceiving, the Falls of the Big Sioux usually don't seem dangerous but rapid water combined with slippery rocks can be a deadly combination.
Thanks to the two brave men, loss of life was avoided in this latest incident!

Wow, what brave men to dive in. Thank God they did and saved that boy!
Great article and great picture. I don't think I have ever seen a photo of those falls. They are neat looking, but no place to fall.
That gives me goosebumps. I'm so glad the boy was saved. I witnessed my father save a child from drowning when I was a teen. I hope if the time ever comes I can do the same.
Your photo is fabulous and I can see the current and all those rocks to hit your head on!
Close call! Good thing there was someone nearby to come to the rescue. Great photo of the falls!
Glad people were willing to get involved and safe the child.
His guardian angels were with him that night...literally!
Here's to the Heroes! It's great to hear the youngster is alive and well due to the bravery of two human beings!
Glad they were able to save his life.
